After our apparition in Milan to meet fabulous artists, RAREculture went to Venice… More to come!
Just One of the Many Wonders of Peru…..
RAREculture has had just an amazing year of one wonderful happening after another. First we had the fortune of being sponsored to Guatemala, then to Mexico and our latest journey was to Peru…and what a wonderful journey it was!
One artist group that deserves particular mention is PaTS Peru. The man behind the mission, Gerry Cooklin, has devoted his time, energy, and resources creating a sustainable way to help the people of the Yanesha Ethnic Group of the Central Peruvian Amazon make a living and maintain the forest. A task of significant proportion, but achieved. While doing so ,Gerry has managed to design some truly extraordinary wood pieces with no electricity and carved completely by hand. We are proud to be representing PaT’S work on RAREculture and hope you will love and support it as well ….

When design meets charity…
RAREculture is honored to be working with the fabulous interior designer ”Aurelien Gallet” on the “Design On A Dime”, 2012 benefit. Organized by Housing Works since 2005, it is one of the largest charities for the design world in New York.
More than 10 of our extraordinary artists have donated pieces of their amazing work to help the homeless and low income New Yorkers affected by HIV/AIDS. “Design On A Dime” has already raised $2M for its program “Get A Room”.
RAREculture is passionate about helping in whatever way we can with the injustice the HIV/AIDS communities face. Join us at this incredible event from April 26th through April 28th in NYC. We will have all of the artwork that the artists have donated on the RAREculture site and lots of special additions from the artists as well…
Eye on Mexico…
Christian Thornton….the amazing glass maestro that we are thrilled to have as a part of our RAREculture family of new artists….
At the close of 2001 Christian relocated to Oaxaca, Mexico where with design and years of labor and innovation created a project that combines the necessary
components to constitute a sustainable art glass center: formulation of waste glass, recuperation
of exhaust heat, application of alternative energies while adhering to the principles of social and
environmental responsibility.
Here are only a few of the wonderful pieces we will represent…..
Today, on the road of art…
Doing the Artist walk today..be back with our finds…

Meet David Raful…
We Love David!
We met David at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in NY and we have been together ever since.
From El Salvador, David is a leader in the sustainable movement
there and has coined his wonderful recycled furniture and bag collection “NeuLeather”. Trained and
working as a graphic designer in his native country, David saw a great need for sustainable products made from reusablematerials that had style and sophistication. When asking David about how he sees his work fitting with the RAREculture ethos,
David’s reply is ” RAREculture’s mission is also to help the artist to grow and expand his business. I have a vision of being able to employ the gifted Salvadorian crafts people here and make a difference to the poor communities in El Salvador by creating jobs.”
We knew immediately David was a perfect fit!
