The unlikely married design duo, Maria Jose Ponce from Guatemala and Jan Leiritz from East Germany, are making wonderful things happen in their Guatemalan home accessories company, Artemedera. Using traditional and non- traditional woods like teak, white walnut, conacast and cypress, they have the genius ability to work with the natural grains of the wood and create a sleek, sophisticated collection. What we love as much as the collection itself is the cause behind their mission. Maria and Jan use every scrap of wood possible to conserve the resources and also help teach and mentor the people of Guatemala to pass forward their craft.
Great gift ideas for that chef in your life…. All items are unique, made by hand and should be hand washed. When they need a little TLC, little olive oil or vegetable oil can be rubbed on them.
